This project, the architectural creation of Steven Scott, is a flexible performance space. The space provides a traditional proscenium layout with many variations including one single performance space in a courtyard formation.

The architecture is set in and inspired by nature.

The exterior as well as the interior walls of the main volume can change colour, thereby signalling the atmosphere of the performance that takes place inside the building.

Commissioned in December 2001 by the Ballet Director Peter Schaufuss, Steven Scott was briefed to design an architectural framework for an international performance space that could house a broad range of cultural activities such as international performances of ballet, opera, theatre etc. as well as Peter Schaufuss´ own productions. Previously Steven Scott has created more than twenty stage and light designs for his theatre productions.

This project was supportet and publicly announced in April 2002 by the Fund of Realdanmark.

Steven Scott is now working in architectural collaboration with the Danish architect Kim Herforth-Nielsen of 3 x Nielsen on a new building project.
